3️⃣ Basic Set Concepts
3.1 Set की Definition
A = {1,2,3,4,5}
3.2 Representation of Set
- Roster form: A = {1,2,3,4}
- Set-builder form: A = {x : x is a natural number and x < 5}
3.3 Important Types
| Type | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Empty Set | कोई element नहीं | ∅ |
| Singleton Set | एक element | {5} |
| Finite Set | सीमित elements | {1,2,3} |
| Infinite Set | अनंत elements | N = {1,2,3,...} |
| Universal Set | Discussion का पूरा relevant collection | U |
| Subset | A के सभी elements B में हों | A ⊆ B |
3.4 Basic Set Operations
Intersection: A ∩ B = common elements।
Difference: A − B = A
Complement: A′ = Universal set में वे elements जो A में नहीं हैं।
3.5 Important Laws
(A ∪ B)′ = A′ ∩ B′
(A ∩ B)′ = A′ ∪ B′
4️⃣ Functions
4.1 Function
Range
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
4.3 Function
Y” = Not a Function.
5️⃣ Domain
5.1 Polynomial Function
Domain = R
5.2 Denominator वाला Function
f(x)=1/(x−2)
x−2 ≠ 0 ⇒ x ≠ 2
Domain = R − {2}
5.3 Square Root
g(x) ≥ 0
5.4 Logarithm
g(x) > 0
Base भी valid होना चाहिए: a > 0 तथा a ≠ 1.
5.5 Composite Domain
6.1 Direct Method
6.2 Completing Square
6.3 Reciprocal Type
6.4 Range using y = f(x)
y=f(x) लिखकर x को y के रूप में solve करें। फिर देखें कि कौन-कौन से y-values possible हैं।
7️⃣ Composite Functions
f∘g ≠ g∘f
Example
Composition की Domain
8️⃣ One-One Functions
Graphical Test
Example
Non-example
9️⃣ Onto Functions
Example
Non-example
🔟 Inverse Functions
Bijective = One-one + Onto
Inverse निकालने की Method
Example
Inverse Composition Property
f(f⁻¹(x)) = x
Important Domain-Range Relation
Range of f⁻¹ = Domain of f
Graphical Property
⚡ Formula / Rules / Tricks
A∪B = A या B
A∩B = Common elements
A−B = A में लेकिन B में नहीं
(A∪B)′ = A′∩B′
(A∩B)′ = A′∪B′
f:A→B
हर x∈A का exactly one image।
f(a)=f(b) ⇒ a=b
Range = Codomain
One-One + Onto
(f∘g)(x)=f(g(x))
f⁻¹ exists for a function when an appropriate one-to-one and onto mapping between its domain and codomain is established.
OOI: One-One → Onto → Inverse.
Denominator ≠ 0
Square-root expression ≥ 0
Log argument > 0
📝 Solved Examples

Find the domain of f(x)=1/(x−5).
x−5≠0 ⇒ x≠5
Answer: R−{5}
Example 2 — Range
Find the range of f(x)=x²+1, x∈R.
x²+1≥1
Minimum value = 1
Range = [1,∞)
Example 3 — Composition
If f(x)=x+2 and g(x)=3x, find (f∘g)(x).
Answer: 3x+2
Example 4 — One-One
