1. Chapter Overview —

(Compound Amount)
(Annual Compounding)
(Half-Yearly Compounding)
(Quarterly Compounding)
Applications
Applications

2. EXAM APPLICABILITY MAP

3. BASIC CONCEPTS

Term
Compound Interest (CI)

Amount (A) = Principal (P) + Compound Interest (CI) CI = A − P

4. IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS

5. COMPLETE CONCEPTS

A = P(1 + R/100)T CI = P[(1 + R/100)T − 1]

  • P = Principal
  • R = Annual Rate
  • T = Time in years
  • A = Amount

Formula

CI = P[(1 + R/100)² − 1]

CI = P(2R/100 + R²/10000)

Annual Compounding

A = P(1 + R/100)³ CI = P[(1 + R/100)³ − 1]

A = P(1 + R/200)2T
Half-year rate = 5%
Periods = 4
A = 8000 × (1.05)4 = ₹9,724.05
CI = ₹1,724.05

  • Quarterly rate = R/4 %
  • Number of periods = 4T
A = P(1 + R/400)4T

Quarterly rate = 8/4 = 2%

Periods = 1.5 × 4 = 6

A = 10,000 × (1.02)6 = ₹11,261.62419264

Amount = ₹11,261.62

CI ≈ ₹1,261.62

Half-Yearly → Rate ÷ 2, Time × 2
Quarterly → Rate ÷ 4, Time × 4

Amount Formula P(1 + RT/100) P(1 + R/100)T

(Growth)

Final Value = Initial Value × (1 + R/100)n

Depreciation

Final Value = Initial Value × (1 − R/100)n

A = P(1 + R₁/100)(1 + R₂/100)

Final = Initial × (1 + वृद्धि/100) × (1 − कमी/100)

6. IMPORTANT RULES, CONDITIONS & EXAM TRAPS

  5. Amount = Principal + CI.
Trap:

7. FORMULA SECTION

Formula Formula
Annual Amount A = P(1+R/100)T Annual compounding
Compound Interest CI = A − P Amount
Annual CI CI = P[(1+R/100)T−1] Principal, Rate, Time ज्ञात हो
Half-Yearly A=P(1+R/200)2T 6-month compounding
Quarterly A=P(1+R/400)4T 3-month compounding
2-Year CI-SI Difference CI−SI=P(R/100)² 2 years, annual compounding
Growth Final=P(1+R/100)n Percentage increase
Depreciation Final=P(1−R/100)n Percentage decrease
📌 Symbols: P = Principal, R = Rate, T/n = Number of periods/years, A = Amount, CI = Compound Interest.

8. SHORTCUTS & TRICKS

Compound Multiplier

10% growth → 1.10

Trick 2 — 2 Years में CI-SI Difference

Difference = P × R² / 10000
उदाहरण: P=₹10,000, R=10%
Difference = 10000 × 100 / 10000 = ₹100

Trick 3 — Growth Factor

10% increase → ×1.10
20% increase → ×1.20
25% increase → ×1.25
10% decrease → ×0.90
20% decrease → ×0.80

Trick 4 — Successive Change

Final multiplier = 1.20 × 0.90 = 1.08

A. 2%   B. 5%   C. 10%   D. 20%

उत्तर: B. 5%

📝 Research Rule: Official question paper उपलब्ध होने पर प्रश्न का exact wording, exam, year और paper/shift verify करके ही उसे Verified PYQ में upgrade किया जाना चाहिए।

11. PYQ PATTERN ANALYSIS

Pattern
2-year CI-SI Difference उच्च Special relation याद रखें
Half-Yearly महत्वपूर्ण Rate ÷2, Period ×2
Quarterly महत्वपूर्ण Rate ÷4, Period ×4
Growth महत्वपूर्ण Growth multiplier
Depreciation महत्वपूर्ण Decrease multiplier
🎯 Exam Pattern Difference:

Answer Key

Question Answer
Q1 C — ₹6,050
Q2 C — ₹9,724.05
Q3 B — ₹11,261.62 लगभग
Q4 B — ₹216
Q5 B — ₹18,225
Q6 C — ₹15,116.544
Q7 A — 8% वृद्धि
Q8 C — ₹12,000

Detailed Solutions

Q1: A = 5000×1.1² = 5000×1.21 = ₹6,050.
Q2: Half-year rate = 5%, periods = 4.
A = 8000×1.05⁴ = ₹9,724.05.
Q3: Quarterly rate = 2%, periods = 6.
A = 10000×1.02⁶ = ₹11,261.62419264.
Q4: 2-year difference = P(R/100)²
= 15000×(12/100)²
= 15000×0.0144
= ₹216.
Q5: Final = 25000×0.9³
= 25000×0.729
= ₹18,225.
Q6: Final = 12000×1.08³
= 12000×1.259712
= ₹15,116.544.
Q7: Multiplier = 1.20×0.90 = 1.08.
Q8: 14,520 = P×1.1² = P×1.21.
P = 14,520/1.21 = ₹12,000.

13. CONCEPT BASED QUESTIONS

Amount = Principal + CI, इसलिए CI = Amount − Principal.

Multiplier = 1.20×0.80 = 0.96, इसलिए अंतिम राशि प्रारंभिक राशि से 4% कम होगी।

14. ADVANCED LEVEL

14.1 Reverse Calculation

P = A / (1+R/100)T

Growth Rates

A = P(1+r₁)(1+r₂)(1+r₃)...

14.3 Increase + Decrease

Final = P(1+x/100)(1−y/100)

Multiplier
बढ़ता है / increases 1 + R/100
घटता है / decreases 1 − R/100
मूल्यह्रास 1 − R/100
जनसंख्या वृद्धि 1 + R/100
Production growth 1 + R/100

14.5 Traditional Method vs Shortcut

Traditional Shortcut
Formula
2-year CI-SI difference दोनों ब्याज निकालें P(R/100)²
Half-yearly हर period calculation Rate ÷2, Period ×2
Quarterly हर quarter calculation Rate ÷4, Period ×4

15. COMMON MISTAKES

CI = Amount − Principal.
❌ गलती: 2-year CI-SI difference formula को 3 years में भी लगा देना।

16. EXAM-WISE STRATEGY

SSC CGL / CHSL

  • Formula-based arithmetic

RRB NTPC

  • Basic calculation speed
  • Direct formula questions

UPSC CDS

Banking Exams

State/Police/Revenue/Other Recruitment

17. QUICK REVISION

🏆 30-Second Formula Revision

1. Amount = P + CI

2. Annual A = P(1+R/100)T

3. CI = A − P

4. Half-Yearly → R/2, periods 2T

5. Quarterly → R/4, periods 4T

6. 2-Year CI-SI Difference = P(R/100)²

7. Growth → ×(1+R/100)

8. Depreciation → ×(1−R/100)

🔥 Last Minute Exam Points

  • Amount ≠ CI
  • Half-yearly: Rate आधी
  • Quarterly: Rate
  • Compounding periods
  • 2-year CI-SI difference formula
