3. 🟢 Basic Concepts

A |\ | \ | \ Hypotenuse Height | \ | \ |_____\ B C Base
  • AB = Perpendicular / Height
  • BC = Base / Horizontal Distance
  • AC = Hypotenuse / Line of Sight

sin θ = Perpendicular / Hypotenuse

cos θ = Base / Hypotenuse

tan θ = Perpendicular / Base

cot θ = Base / Perpendicular

sec θ = Hypotenuse / Base

cosec θ = Hypotenuse / Perpendicular

4. 📖 Important Definitions

Angle of Elevation —

Top * /| / | / | Height / θ | ------*----*--------- Observer Base Horizontal Line

Angle of Depression —

Line of Sight

5. 🧠 Complete Concepts

5.1 Height

tan θ = h / d

h = d tan θ

5.2 Horizontal Distance

d = h / tan θ

5.3 Line of Sight

यदि Hypotenuse/Line of Sight L और angle θ दिया हो:

sin θ = h / L
h = L sin θ

और:

cos θ = d / L
d = L cos θ

5.4 Standard Angles

θ sin θ cos θ tan θ
0° 0 1 0
30° 1/2 √3/2 1/√3
45° 1/√2 1/√2 1
60° √3/2 1/2 √3

5.5 Complementary Angles

sin(90° − θ) = cos θ
cos(90° − θ) = sin θ
tan(90° − θ) = cot θ

6. ⚠️ Important Rules, Conditions & Traps

  5. Angle of Elevation में angle सामान्यतः horizontal line और upward line of sight के बीच लिया जाता है।
  6. Angle of Depression में horizontal reference line आवश्यक है।
⚠️ Exam Trap: Angle of Depression

7. 🧮 Formula Section

Formula 1 — Height

h = d tan θ

Symbols: h = height, d = horizontal distance, θ = angle.

Formula 2 — Distance

d = h / tan θ

Formula 3 — Height from Line of Sight

h = L sin θ

L = Line of Sight.

Formula 4 — Distance from Line of Sight

d = L cos θ

Formula 5 — Pythagoras

L² = h² + d²

Formula 6 — Basic Identity

sin²θ + cos²θ = 1

Formula 7

1 + tan²θ = sec²θ

Formula 8

1 + cot²θ = cosec²θ

8. ⚡ Shortcuts & Tricks

⚡ Trick 2 — Standard Angle

⚡ Trick 3 — Figure First

  • Height → perpendicular
  • Ground distance → base

🔴 Advanced

Example 6 — Two Positions

13. 🧠 Concept Based Questions

Concept 1

B. height
C. distance
उत्तर: A

Concept 2

Angle of Elevation और Angle of Depression के प्रश्न में horizontal line क्यों महत्वपूर्ण है?

उत्तर: A

Concept 3

14. 🔴 Advanced Level

Advanced Problem 1 — Two Angles

x√3 = (x+40)/√3
3x = x + 40
2x = 40
x = 20.
अतः h = 20√3 m.

उत्तर: 20√3 m

Advanced Problem 2 — Eye Height

H − e = d tan θ
H = e + d tan θ

15. ❌ Common Mistakes

Height/Base → tan, Height/Hypotenuse → sin.

16. 🏆 Exam-wise Strategy

SSC Strategy

Railway Strategy

Official NTPC syllabus Mathematics में Geometry and Trigonometry शामिल है।

NDA Strategy

Defence/Other Exams

🎯 Universal Solving Strategy:
Figure → Given Data → Angle Identify → Right Triangle → सही Ratio → Equation → Calculation → Unit Check → Answer.
